Same‑Day Dental Crowns With Trios, iTero & Fastmill Technology
The crown is the visible part of your tooth. When it becomes damaged by decay, fracture, or wear, an artificial crown can restore or replace it effectively.
At the Centre dentaire & d’implantologie Boucherville, we use advanced digital technologies (Trios, iTero, and Fastmill) to design and place your crown in a single appointment:
- Fast, comfortable digital impressions
- Custom ceramic or zirconia crown perfectly adapted to your bite
- On‑site fabrication for immediate results
- Aesthetic, durable, and natural‑looking restoration
- Safe, biocompatible materials
No more temporary crowns or multiple visits. Enjoy a restored smile with unmatched comfort, precision, and efficiency.
Book your appointment today to restore strength and beauty to your smile.
What materials do we use?
We recommend zirconia for posterior crowns due to its strength, and ceramic for anterior crowns where aesthetics are essential.
Can all crowns be made in a single visit?
- a same‑day crown made in‑office, or
- a laboratory‑fabricated crown for cases requiring the highest level of esthetics.
Is this the same as CEREC?
CEREC is an English acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, meaning a ceramic restoration fabricated chairside in a single appointment.
Several milling systems can achieve this result — including the Glidewell Fastmill, which we use in our clinic.
How do Trios, iTero, and Fastmill work?
This technology allows us to create partial crowns (inlays/onlays) or full crowns in just one visit. The restoration is produced using computer‑aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM).
It can replace a damaged natural crown, restore a tooth that can no longer support a filling, or replace a defective restoration.
Equipment Used & Treatment Steps
Thanks to the Trios/iTero/Fastmill workflow, the entire process — design, fabrication, and placement — is completed in a single appointment.
1. Digital Camera (Scanner)
We scan the tooth, surrounding teeth, and your bite. The images are extremely precise and far more comfortable than traditional impressions.
2. Design Software
Using the 3D images, the dentist designs a crown that fits your tooth perfectly. The process is fast, accurate, and highly predictable.
3. Computer‑Guided Milling Robot
A high‑precision milling unit sculpts your crown from a ceramic or zirconia block using diamond burs. This step takes 20 to 45 minutes, after which the crown is ready for placement. A strong resin cement ensures a secure, long‑lasting bond.
Advantages of Trios, iTero & Fastmill Technology
Ultra‑precise impressions
Digital impressions are extremely accurate and far more comfortable than traditional paste impressions.
High‑precision design
3D imaging allows the dentist to design a crown with exceptional accuracy and minimal risk of error.
Full transparency
The entire process happens in‑office, right before your eyes. Patients can see how their crown is designed and milled.
Speed
No waiting for a lab. Your ceramic or zirconia crown is made and placed in a single visit.
Safety & reliability
These technologies are well‑studied, proven, and highly dependable.
Greater comfort
Only one local anesthetic is needed — unlike traditional methods requiring two separate appointments.
Predictability
Ceramic and zirconia do not expand or contract with temperature changes, unlike metal fillings. This means less sensitivity or discomfort in daily life.
Exceptional esthetics
Ceramic crowns are highly customizable and mimic natural teeth perfectly. The color remains stable over time.
Biocompatibility
All materials used are safe and compatible with the body.
Preservation of natural tooth structure
Crowns and ceramic restorations help preserve healthy tooth structure over the long term. They are more durable than fillings and require fewer replacements. Because everything is done in one visit, fragile tooth structure is protected — no risk of damage during a waiting period.
