Dental Cleanings and Complete Oral Exams

We offer professional dental cleanings performed by qualified dental hygienists. During your visit, the hygienist will begin with a pre‑evaluation of your oral health, including your gums, teeth, and soft tissues. This is followed by scaling to remove tartar and plaque, and polishing to smooth the tooth surfaces. They will also take any necessary digital X‑rays to assist the dentist in making an accurate diagnosis.

After the cleaning, the dentist will perform a full examination and provide the appropriate diagnoses and recommendations.

A complete exam includes:

  • Review of medical history, allergies, and medications
  • Examination of soft tissues (tongue, palate, cheeks) and lymph nodes to detect early abnormalities
  • Assessment of each tooth to identify cavities, cracks, or worn restorations
  • Periodontal evaluation by measuring the space between the tooth and gum
  • Examination of the bite and jaw joint (TMJ) to detect signs of bruxism or dysfunction
  • Digital X‑rays to detect interproximal cavities and evaluate bone levels
  • A panoramic X‑ray for a full overview of your oral structures

The appointment often includes a cleaning, and you will receive personalized oral hygiene advice.

Finally, the dentist will establish a customized treatment plan based on your needs and goals.

How long does a dental cleaning take?

The duration varies depending on age, oral health, and the amount of tartar or staining present. For most adults, a routine cleaning and recall exam typically lasts about 60 minutes.

Do you accept new patients? How long is the new‑patient appointment?

Yes, we are accepting new patients. A new‑patient appointment lasts approximately 2 hours and includes a comprehensive examination.

What instruments do you use for scaling?

We use ultrasonic scalers, such as the Cavitron or Piezo, to ensure efficient, precise, and comfortable cleaning. These instruments use gentle vibrations and water to remove tartar effectively, even in hard‑to‑reach areas.
